about

As our journey draws to a close we realise that we have only taken the first few steps on an eternal journey towards the heart of God. Many, unaware of this, have made faith into a monument: a static monolith carved in stone and equally cold. But Christianity is a pilgrimage of adventure, a quest for the Holy Grail; the first believers were known as those who followed The Way, in love with him who said: ‘I am the way’. It was never meant to be a monument but a movement.
This song echoes the cry of the human heart to be enfolded in the arms of love; it speaks of the yearning for that final embrace. But faith is not merely a future hope, it is a present reality. Even here in these shadow-lands the power of the Spirit weaves eternity into the fabric of our lives: eternal life begins now, the hand of the child in that of the Father; the voice of the Spirit calling on the wind; the presence of the Son in a simple meal of bread and wine.

lyrics

Evening shadows, weary sun
Long winding road
A horizon of mystery that fades
Into darkness, stealing hope—
Blood that runs cold
With fear and with feelings betrayed

But you’re calling me to move on
From the shadow-lands to the sun
Where my heart belongs—to my home

And so I run to you like a child
And I’m reaching out for you alone
I can hear you whisper in the wind
Drawing me, calling me to come home

Phantom voices thin and cold
Promise me love
From the shadows that lie beyond sight
Calling me to leave my path and
Dance with the dead
In the dream and illusion of night

In the land of midnight sun
Death will die and life is born
Healing wounds of the past
Pain will be a memory
When I feel you holding me
Face to face, heart to heart

John de Jong UK

I grew up with a slightly schizophrenic interest in both English and American folk-blues and traditional English hymns. I've always been passionate about the acoustic guitar, but in recent recent years my tastes have expanded somewhat. The Rock Mass is evidence of this. Hope you enjoy the music! ... more
