Agnus Dei 04:50
Radiation cloud Poison in her breath Invisible as love East of Eden wind Such a cold caress So intimate this kiss— Of death Agnus dei qui tollis Lamb of God who takes away Peccata mundi miserere nobis the sins of the world, have mercy on us Show your mercy to our world We cry out to you to be healed Antidote for poisoned blood Saving transfusion from your deep wound of love Oxygen in fallen veins Immunisation from death’s acid rain Show your mercy to our world Only you can set us free Save us from this misery We cry out to you to be healed Fever burning, HIV Dying millions, rising sea We need mercy Lord for our world Only you can make us free Save us from this misery The mark of Cain—blood on our hands Eating the fruit of our rebellion Even a child could understand that something’s wrong I look at you, you look at me I wonder if you really love me? The enemy is not out there, he’s in my heart And more and more we talk of war The sacrifice of someone’s children We live the myth that even death will bring us life Hope for the hopeless, love for the loveless We need your mercy in our world

Evil Killing the child within me Begging you Lord for mercy On my life! Dying Down on my knees I’m crying River of blood is flowing Save my life! Cancer grows, death multiplying And an angry sea is rising Gaia moans, her fever burning Can no one hear her cries of sorrow? Poison Chemical inflammation Deadly contamination Choking life! Bitter tears, no consolation For a world that weeps in shadow I cry out in desperation As pulse grows weak and breath more shallow Can the time be now upon us When we eat the fruit of Eden? Gaia moans, her fever burning Can no one hear her cries of sorrow? Cry in vain for God can’t hear you Cry in pain for death is in you Earth is cursed by blood of Abel Time to eat the fruit of evil

Credo 04:42
I can’t believe we’re alone Spinning in infinity I can’t believe my life will end And never see eternity I can’t believe that love’s a lie A kiss is just a chemical I can’t believe that space and time Are all there is to life I believe in DNA— Spiral of love, divine embrace One in a million, not a chance mistake A child of the stars, not a twist of fate I believe I believe in you Life immortal flowing through me Fire in my soul I believe I believe in you Earth creator, friend and lover My eternal home I believe I believe I believe in you I believe You’re the reason Life and love Joy in creation! I believe You’re calling us To join the song!

O lux beatissima Reple cordis intima Tuorum fidelium Sine tuo numine Nihil est in homine Nihil est innoxium [O most blessed radiance Fill the inmost heart Of your faithful ones Without your divine presence We have nothing in us – Nothing that is not harmful] Spirit born of holy fire Emanation of desire Radiant being of light Wind of heaven, breath of God Life-imparting spirit-song Kissing creation with life Embrace this child of earth with heaven’s fire Renew this broken heart to love again Enfold me in your arms and lift me higher Spirit come and make us new Healing power flowing through Comforter we call to you Renovate the wounded soul Recreate where love is cold Driving the shadows away Gift of life from open hand Rain upon this thirsty land Come Holy Spirit we pray Embrace this child of earth with heaven’s fire Renew this broken heart to love again Enfold me in your arms and lift me higher Spirit come and make us new Healing power flowing through Spirit hear us calling — Veni sancte spiritus Et emitte caelitus Liucis tuae radium Veni lumen cordium [Come Holy Spirit And send from heaven The radiance of your light Come, light of our hearts] Come, come, come

Gospel Song 04:00
Thunder roars in heaven, a thousand voices sing Glory, praise and honour to the mighty King of Kings The one who was slain Living again Here on earth we echo heaven’s joyful song Death has been defeated and the victory is won Freedom to live Radical love Healing grace like a river flows Now the light of mercy shines upon this earth Let our song of praise rise to heaven now Honouring the one who died Joining with the angels we lift up his Precious name—Jesus Adonai Risen from the dead he reigns! Burning like a living flame Of sacred love, of sacred love Who are we to offer praise to one so high? Founder of creation and the architect of time Beginning and end Author of life? Yet you call us nearer to your wounded side Offering forgiveness and embracing us with life Healing the past Freedom at last! Death has died—no more crying now Only tears of joy that wash away our pain Let our song of praise…

My Home 05:30
Evening shadows, weary sun Long winding road A horizon of mystery that fades Into darkness, stealing hope— Blood that runs cold With fear and with feelings betrayed But you’re calling me to move on From the shadow-lands to the sun Where my heart belongs—to my home And so I run to you like a child And I’m reaching out for you alone I can hear you whisper in the wind Drawing me, calling me to come home Phantom voices thin and cold Promise me love From the shadows that lie beyond sight Calling me to leave my path and Dance with the dead In the dream and illusion of night In the land of midnight sun Death will die and life is born Healing wounds of the past Pain will be a memory When I feel you holding me Face to face, heart to heart

about

The Rock Mass—with music by Czech composer Daniel Kyzlink and lyrics by myself—was premiered in May 2013 by the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra under the direction of French conductor Martin Lebel. It is a unique work scored for symphony orchestra, rock band and singers. The premieres, featuring vocals from London-based singers Kirsten Joy and Gaz Twist, received ecstatic reviews and standing ovations.

Five years in the making, the Rock Mass is meticulously crafted both musically and lyrically. It is a unique fusion of styles—film, jazz and symphonic—with a powerful rock undercurrent, yet with surprising excursions into orchestral fugues, haunting symphonies and searing brass passages: a work of outstanding expressiveness, spiritual depth and visceral beauty. It features outstanding rock and jazz performances from some of Europe's finest musicians.

about

John de Jong UK

I grew up with a slightly schizophrenic interest in both English and American folk-blues and traditional English hymns. I've always been passionate about the acoustic guitar, but in recent recent years my tastes have expanded somewhat. The Rock Mass is evidence of this. Hope you enjoy the music! ... more
